The Raspberry Pi High Definition (HD) Camera Card connects to any Raspberry Pi computer or processing module, allowing you to make HD videos and photos.
It uses the Sony IMX219PQ image sensor which offers high speed and high sensitivity video images.
The Raspberry Pi camera module ensures reduced image contamination, such as fixed noise and burrs. It also offers automatic control features such as exposure control, white balance and luminance detection.

Connecting the camera module to the Pi:
A 15 cm ribbon cable connected to the module plugs directly into the CSI (serial interface of the camera) port of your Pi device. Once connected, the camera card can be accessed via the MMAL (Multi-Media Abstraction Layer) or V4L (video for Linux) API. Alternatively, there are numerous libraries, including Picamera Python, available online.
The Raspberry Pi camera module is ideal for making HD videos and photos. You can also try the time-lapse and slow motion functions.
Other uses include botanical, naturalistic and home security applications.
The module requires a Raspberry PI board to work (not included).
